The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, established in 1923, is the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7–12. The 2025 Awards continue this tradition, inviting young artists and writers to submit their original works across 28 categories, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and ceramics. Submissions are evaluated based on originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision, with judges looking for works that exemplify these core values. Regional awards include Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention, with Gold Key recipients advancing to national judging. National Medalists may receive scholarships of up to $12,500, and award-winning works are showcased in exhibitions and publications, providing young creators with valuable exposure.

We are proud to announce that several Schuyler art students have been recognized for their outstanding artistic achievements in the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards:

  • Kiera Ladehoff – Honorable Mention in Drawing & Illustration, Gold Key in Sculpture, and Silver Key in Sculpture

  • Bela Jedlicka – Gold Key in Ceramics & Glass and Silver Key in Sculpture

  • Jani Yepez – Silver Key and Honorable Mention in Sculpture

  • Bon Mejia – Gold Key in Mixed Media and two Honorable Mentions in Drawing & Illustration
