Mrs. Richard's ELA Classes Held Court Hearings.
This was a combination of our persuasive writing unit. The task was to either prove using evidence that SpongeBob was guilty of killing Mr. Krabs, or that someone else MAY have done the crime. Witnesses appeared in testimony, and in the end, Mr. Judge Banahan is issued a final verdict. In one of the cases, SpongeBob was found guilty of murder, in one case, Patrick was found guilty of murder, and SpongeBob was felt, found guilty of stealing the money, and in the other child, Squidward was found to be a an accomplice to the murderer, and stole the money, while plankton was accused of the murder.
The kids really had a good time, and learned a lot about taking facts and putting them together to make claims that were persuasive and not just informative. They also really enjoyed seeing Mr. Banahan‘s costume.
