Everyday we show up to school and our floors are squeaky clean, the Field House is 100% all ready to go, the rugs are vacuumed, and the bathrooms shine. How is this possible? It’s our wonderful janitors! Thank you to Olga, Alfredo, Nida, Maria for all that you do at SMS. Happy Custodian Appreciation Day!

Science 7 Molecule Building Activity!

Wednesday, our Science 7 students used paper atom models to build simple molecules such as water (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), oxygen gas (O₂), and ammonia (NH₃). Students practiced using models to show how atoms combine to form molecules while learning about the composition of matter.

Hands-on learning makes science more meaningful and fun!

¡Actividad de construcción de moléculas para la clase de Ciencias de 7.º grado!

El miércoles, los alumnos de Ciencias de 7.º grado utilizaron modelos de átomos hechos de papel para construir moléculas sencillas, como agua (H₂O), dióxido de carbono (CO₂), oxígeno gaseoso (O₂) y amoníaco (NH₃). Los estudiantes practicaron el uso de modelos para mostrar cómo se combinan los átomos para formar moléculas, al tiempo que aprendían sobre la composición de la materia.

¡El aprendizaje práctico hace que la ciencia sea más significativa y divertida!

Each month a boy and a girl from each grade will be chosen as Student of the Month. They must demonstrate strength in the following areas: Leadership, Academics, Respect and Citizenship to be chosen. Back-to-Back then Face-to-Face: Math in Motion! Think it. Solve it. Share it! Students went back-to-back to independently tackle challenging unit rate problems with ratios of fractions—then turned face-to-face to compare answers, explain their strategies, and learn from a partner! From independent thinking to collaborative learning, our 7th grade mathematicians showed that sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to think on your own, then talk it out! #MathInMotion #UnitRates #RatiosOfFractions #ThinkPairShare #CollaborativeLearning #MathIsFun

Boom! Clap! Switch! Warrior Time in Mrs. Arriola’s class was all about teamwork, focus, and fun! 👏

6th grade writing class— Who says reviewing can’t be fun? Answer it correctly? Shoot the ball! 🏀

The SMS cross country teams competed well at the Bob Hoyer Invitational today at Branched Oak. With athletes from 17 middle schools competing, both the girls and boys teams placed 6th. Alondra Carrera placed 8th and Makayla Juan placed 9th to earn individual medals. Great job Warriors!

Miss Domina's Warrior Time demonstrated lots of teamwork today as they did several cup stacking challenges.

Mr. Rocha's Warrior Time participated in a teambuilding activity today. They were put into groups, which were given the same Lego set. The students then raced to see which group could finish building the set quickest.
