Schuyler Book Garden Kickoff

Dear Staff and Families,
I am thankful to share that the possible threat we dealt with today has resolved itself. As always, I thank everyone for your understanding, flexibility, and cooperation during today's unfortunate situation. We look forward to a normal day tomorrow.

Schuyler Staff and Families,
We will have our usual dismissal today at 3:30. The Schuyler Police and County Sheriff will be present at all schools during this time. All scheduled events will proceed as scheduled since they are at other schools, all practices will be held inside this afternoon.

All schools in Secure Mode for the time being. At this time we have a high school student that has left home and may be armed. The police are working on finding out where this individual is. We have no indications that this student has threatened to harm anyone. We are taking all precautions to ensure everyone's safety. No one is allowed in or out of any building during this time unless it is through the secured front door and identification is verified.

This Thursday, September 19th, we will be down one bus driver in the afternoon. Therefore the Middle School afternoon bus route will be late.
On Friday September 20th, we will not have enough drivers to run the afternoon bus route at all. We will run in the morning, but in the afternoon there will be no bus route service. Thank you

SCS Emergency Action Plan

Dear Schuyler Families,
This afternoon, at approximately 3:00 o’clock, we received a Snapchat post threatening a school shooting during 8th period at the middle school. I am thankful to report that no incident occurred. Mrs. Ruybalid and Mr. Rowan did a fantastic job putting the school in Secure Mode and calling in the Schuyler Police. Our teachers were equally instrumental by remaining calm and ensuring that all our students were safe.
Sincerely,
Sinceramente,

Dear Schuyler Community,
Yesterday evening a social media post was spotted by some of you regarding the threat of a school shooting and a reference to a middle school. At first glance it appeared to be related to Schuyler but thankfully that is not the case. This was a threat made in Atlantic, Iowa and the person responsible is with authorities. I want to thank our Schuyler Police and those of you that texted or called with questions or concerns. Maintaining a safe and positive community takes everyone working together.

Huge thank you to Pinnacle Bank for helping support our new teachers set up services needed!!

Today at our elementary school, we had a situation where a student was thought to be missing. The principals and their team immediately put the school in Secure Mode (no one allowed in or out of the building) and a count of all students was taken in that grade level. Additionally, all spaces in the building and outside were checked as well. I am happy to report that in the end no students were missing and everyone was where they should be. I want to applaud the elementary administrators and their amazing staff for taking immediate action to ensure that all our students were safe and accounted for. During the first few days of school, while staff are getting to know their students and our young Warriors are getting used to their routines, confusion can occur. We have an amazing group of caring and hard working staff and I thank them for erring on the side of caution. I also want to thank our Schuyler Police for their immediate response and assistance as we work through this situation. Bret Schroder, Superintendent

Back to School Haircut Day was a huge success.
